Installing a Ceiling Fan

After purchasing your new ceiling fan you are going to want to install it. While using an electrician north shore is one option, installing it yourself can save you a lot of money.

The first thing you need to do is turn off your electricity. If you are going to use this where an existing light is, then remove your light fixture. There should be some colored wires hanging down.

Connect your motor bracket to the ceiling and be sure to stick your colored wires through the center of the bracket. The connect the colored wires to the matching wires in your motor. Attach to the bracket.

Next, you will need to put up your motor collar, which in some cases will hug the ceiling.

Screw the ceiling fan blades to their brackets and attach them to your motor. If your fan has a light on it, you will need to connect the light shades to the light frames which should be on your motor as well. Screw-in your light bulbs in each socket.

There should be two chains hanging down. One is for your fan and the other is for your light. Attach the extenders into your chains and put your chain pulls in the end.

There should be a switch on the side of your motor which will run the speed of your fan. Most have a low, medium, and high setting. Decide which one you will like and adjust it to your liking. The other switch on your motor is for moving your blades clockwise or counterclockwise. In the summer they should go clockwise to push the air down while in winter you will want them to go counterclockwise.

Now turn your electricity back on and check to make sure your fan and light work. Enjoy.
